Welcome to Riding The Wave

Why did you create Riding The Wave?

I created this newsletter because I saw a trend on Etoro where investors new to crypto (or new to investing in general) would copy me for several months before becoming more comfortable & then moving to invest on their own. Some would succeed with this approach, but many would still check the information I provided on Etoro & still be interested in what I was doing in order to make more informed decisions.

Due to this, I decided to make this newsletter so that current copiers, past copiers & investors, in general, could check out the raw information I am reviewing when I make decisions. Of course, this information is cleaned up, filtered, & formatted for easier reading, but overall it is much closer to the source & not just my final decisions I post on Etoro. In short, it allows you to learn what I'm learning with much less time on your end.

Where did the name "Riding the Wave" come from?

I chose the name "Riding The Wave" for several reasons, the first being that when I was growing up, my Uncle would tell me how in investing & business, there are often waves that sweep through. If you happen to get lucky & catch one, you see disproportionately more results compared to working in other areas that aren't seeing a wave at that moment. Our society has had waves in many fields (Ex: computers, the internet, crypto) & will have many more. If you find yourself at the right time and place in one of these waves by planning or by luck, you'll have your 1 hour of work appear to be worth 10x as much compared to an hour invested in another field that isn't currently growing.

Topics covered in this newsletter

Various topics are covered in this newsletter, but the core focus is currently on cryptocurrencies & related technologies. I may change this as new waves appear in the future, but now (and likely for the next several years) I feel this is the best opportunity to cost area, so I am focusing on it. I would define Crypto as topics such as Bitcoin, Blockchain, Ethereum, Cardano, Layer 1/2/3 solutions/projects, wallets, exchanges, NFTs, etc.

A general list of areas I am or may cover in the periphery or as the focus of an occasional article/deep dive:

  • Areas I think are growing and therefore potential time/money investment opportunities

  • General information on investing (strategies)

  • Markets

  • Different Economies

  • Events happening in other countries and their monetary policy

  • Decision making

Who I am

I currently work as a Solution Architect, Newsletter writer on Substack, & popular investor on Etoro. Some things I have worked on in recent years:

  • Worked as a Data Engineer (a subset of a software engineer)

  • Completed an internship in bio-informatics

  • Participated in business competitions

  • Completed a major in "Computer Science" and a minor in "Computational and Mathematical Biology"

  • Participated in Cryptography research

As you can see, I greatly enjoy learning about different fields and understanding them. I aim to bring the information I have learned across these different areas into the articles I post to this newsletter.

Posting Schedule

The current posting schedule is 2 News Summaries each week on roughly Wednesday & Sunday (they may be posted the day before or after depending on schedule constraints) & a weekly outlook article on Friday.

All 3 of these newsletter articles will include tweets that I thought were interesting.

News Summaries cover 3-4 articles & provide key highlights, so you dont need to read the full articles. They also include my commentary, which may be a sentence or several, depending on the topic.

Weekly Outlooks have several Bitcoin charts on different timeframes and different indicators/ technical analyses.

Deep dives are posted irregularly due to the amount of time that goes into creating them.

Why Subscribe as a free or paid reader?

Free subscribers receive previews of all articles, whereas paid readers receive full articles. This means that free subscribers can view all tweets embedded in articles, the first 2 articles out of 4 covered in news summaries, the first section of the weekly outlooks, & the introductory sections of deep-dive articles.

Paid Subscribers have access to all 4 news summaries, the section of the weekly outlooks where I go over what I think may happen in the future, and all of the deep dive articles content.

By subscribing, you save yourself months-years of research into cryptocurrency and investing. A quick example of the time saved is the News Summary articles. To create each article, I search through several different news sites & review 15-30 articles that I think may be interesting. From there, I read each one, select several that are important, select the key points, add my commentary based on my years of research into crypto and present them to you in an easy-to-read format. Weekly outlook and Deep Dive articles have similar time commitments, which you can skip by joining Riding the Wave.

While a free subscription might be great to get a feel for the newsletter if you are planning to be a long-time reader, want to learn more about the topics covered, & keep up to date on what's happening in crypto, subscribing to the paid version is worth the price.

Can I try paid content before Paying?

I offer a free trial for 7 days, which you can use to check out the newsletter and all of the content available to see if it matches your needs.
